Yoga Therapy - Your Healing Intention
As a Yoga Therapist, it's my purpose to observe, listen and question while supporting your healing intention using yoga's most beneficial tools.

What is Yoga Therapy?

  • Yoga Therapy addresses the individual on five layers of our being (Koshas).   According to Yogic tradition, the 5 Koshas infuse our entire being and are:  the physical body (annamayakosha);  the energy body (pranamayakosha); the  psycho-emotional body (manomayakosha);  the wisdom body (vijnanamayakosha) and the bliss body (anandamayakosha).
  • To address the individual on each layer, Yoga Therapy uses practices and tools that are appropriate to each individual.  These tools help you engage with your body, breath, emotions and mind through a daily self practice we create together.  The tools include (but are not limited to) physical poses, breath practices, meditation, body awareness and relaxation techniques.

Yoga Therapy is for you if you find yourself facing change and are unsure of how to move forward.  At various times in our lives we're faced with profound challenges that require more support and should that be the case, it may be necessary to seek outside professional psychotherapy to further the process.  I can assist you in creating your team, while our work together focuses on the five layers of our being, with simple, engaging and healing yoga practices.

Private Yoga Therapy Sessions

The initial assessment is 90 minutes, enough time to review your history, explore concerns and establish your healing intention.  Follow up sessions are 60 minutes and include review, addressing concerns, checking in with your intention and when personal practice is taught and developed.

It's recommended you check in and maintain follow up sessions so your practice can grow and adapt as your needs change.

A commitment to 8 private sessions to start is recommended.  This allows enough time to make and adapt to significant change in one's life.

Please contact me to book your sessions.

What people are saying.....

"Thank you for your help with me these past few years.  If anything, I've learned is to slow down, breathe and through meditation get perspective.  That takes time and effort which you make happen in your classes.  Thank you!!"   Elaine  (yoga therapy and group class student).

"I want to thank you for your kind words and congratulations.  Only with your help, I've been able to progress to where I am now and I thank you from the bottom of my heart.  I couldn't have done it alone but with you by my side offering guidance, inspiration, encouragement and your expertise I have reached a good place.  I feel more confident, self reliant and aware of who I am . I know to find one's true self is a continuous journey which I'm happy to travel.  I truly believe people come into your life for a reason; I'm so happy you came into my life at my time of need.  I cherish you  as a person, teacher and your willingness to give of yourself for the benefit of others;  you are a true inspiration."
Sincerely, Janet  (yoga therapy and group class student)

"I found Sheila during a time when I required a process to help during a significant life experience with both my body and mind.  She helped me to integrate several types of therapy, physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually.  She guided me through places of myself that were unknown to me, with a kind and empathetic heart.  Even though the difficult time has passed, I still rely on the practices she offered me.  Most importantly, I found Sheila to be a highly intuitive and spiritual person, who is passionate about her work and a true professional.  Thank you, Sheila for your patience and strength and your ability to see beyond my own self limiting perceptions."  MS  (yoga therapy student)
