What's the best Yoga for You

Group Class

  • For personal enjoyment, maintenance, self-education, and for students who experience general overall well being.  The teacher makes every effort to honor each student’s abilities and needs.  However, group classes, by their nature, work at a “common” level, as they need to address a broader range of criteria to keep everyone safe, which means group class is not for everyone.

Private Yoga Instruction

  • For someone who has never done Yoga and wants to attend a group class or begin and maintain a home practice.  The student engages in private one-on-one instruction as the teacher guides the student toward a level of comfort and ability before attending a group class or maintaing a home practice.  It is also for students who want to progress further in their practice when it becomes clear that group classes are useful to a certain degree.  During private yoga instruction, the student engages in regular home practice on their own using a practice designed for them by the teacher.  The student provides the teacher with feedback so the practice can be refined as needed.  In this way, Yoga becomes a personal journey, while the student develops the skills to observe the subtle changes that occur in his or her own system.

Private Yoga Therapy Session

  • Like private Yoga instruction, Yoga Therapy is offered one-on-one.  In this case, the teacher adapts and utilizes the tools of Yoga to help the student as they face specific challenge(s).  The student provides historical information so the teacher can discern which tools are appropriate, while the student provides feedback so practices can be refined and modifed.  Where general Yoga keeps us steady on the wellness path with a regular practice providing us the ability to cope with stresses and various stages of life, Yoga Therapy is much more specific.  It targets the root cause of affliction, helping the student to adapt, make lasting positive change and move forward with a personal program for their lifestyle.  Yoga Therapy is comprehensive, that is, taking the whole person approach to health and is a complement to other systems of healthcare and treatment.

What people are saying.....

"I want to thank you for your kind words and congratulations.  Only with your help, I've been able to progress to where I am now and I thank you from the bottom of my heart.  I couldn't have done it alone but with you by my side offering guidance, inspiration, encouragement and your expertise I have reached a good place.  I feel more confident, self reliant and aware of who I am . I know to find one's true self is a continuous journey which I'm happy to travel.  I truly believe people come into your life for a reason; I'm so happy you came into my life at my time of need.  I cherish you  as a person, teacher and your willingness to give of yourself for the benefit of others;  you are a true inspiration."

"I found Sheila during a time when I required a process to help during a significant life experience with both my body and mind.  She helped me to integrate several types of therapy, physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually.  She guided me through places of myself that were unknown to me, with a kind and empathetic heart.  Even though the difficult time has passed, I still rely on the practices she offered me.  Most importantly, I found Sheila to be a highly intuitive and spiritual person, who is passionate about her work and a true professional.  Thank you, Sheila for your patience and strength and your ability to see beyond my own self limiting perceptions."  MS  (yoga therapy student)
